Hartford Celebrates Meredith Monk was a four-day retrospective celebrating the creative output of composer, vocalist, filmmaker, and artist Meredith Monk. Recognized as one of the most unique and influential artists of our time, she is a pioneer in what is now called “extended vocal technique” and “interdisciplinary performance.” The festival included a film retrospective, workshops, lectures, a multimedia installation, and a performance of Cellular Songs in Concert with Meredith Monk & Vocal Ensemble. The performance was presented through a partnership between The Hartt School, Hartford Art School, the Joseloff Gallery, and The Wadsworth Atheneum with support from the Richard P. Germany Foundation.
